Shafer Barrel Lot takes Top Spot at 2010’s Auction Napa Valley
Live lot offering “All-Access Napa Valley” is one of the auction’s big winners as well
June, 2010 – Shafer Vineyards is celebrating another memorable Auction Napa Valley after seeing their two auction lots help contribute nearly $300,000 to the event’s overall total.
The Shafer barrel lot, which was 10 cases of 2008 Hillside Select, sold for a total of $58,650 at the barrel auction on Friday, June 5.
The Shafer live lot, called “All-Access Napa Valley,” sold for $240,000 at Saturday June 5 live auction event. The lot offered big bottles of Hillside Select, dinner at the French Laundry for six, private tastings at the winery hosted by author and TV personality Karen MacNeil, private cooking lessons with well-known author and chef, Hugh Carpenter, a winery dinner with the Shafer family and a three-day luxury stay at Auberge du Soliel.
“We have been honored to participate with Auction Napa Valley since its inception in 1981, helping to build a healthier community,” says Doug Shafer. “It was especially joyful to celebrate this 30th anniversary being able to provide auction lots that helped bolster the overall tally to this level.”
This year’s Auction Napa Valley garnered a total of more than $8.5-million.
Auction Napa Valley is the most successful charity wine auction in the world and to date has give $90-million to scores of nonprofit programs, aiming its funds at healthcare, youth development, and affordable housing agencies.
